The Bureau of Meteorology has a current severe weather warning for Perth for damaging winds and heavy rain, with a cold front sweeping across the southwest corner of the state. You can expect the worst conditions to hit the city this afternoon and into the evening.

What is the current Perth weather warning?

A severe weather warning is active for Perth and surrounding parts of the Lower West and South West districts. The main threat is damaging winds averaging 60–70 km/h with gusts up to 100 km/h, particularly near the coast and hills. Heavy rain is also likely, raising the risk of localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions through the afternoon and overnight.

How long will the warning last?

The warning is expected to remain in force until late tonight as the cold front moves east. Conditions should ease from the west after midnight, but a separate severe weather warning may be issued for the inland Goldfields region as the system tracks east. Check the weather radar for the latest movement.
